REMEMBERING LEE BENDULL AND ED COLTON By Allan Harms,

Sadly the Harmony Hawks Chorus lost two members
recently, Lee Bendull and his wife, Marie, and Ed
Colton.
Lee Bendull died along with
his wife, Marie, in an auto accident on February 1, 2006. Lee
had been a member of the Harmony Hawks for 44 years, always as a
bass section stalwart. He truly loved to sing four-part harmony,
participating in registered quartets as well as single event
quartets every chance he got. Lee could be found singing in quartets
at picnics, barbecues, social events, at the golf course, and during
rehearsal breaks -- he was always ready for a B-flat song. Lee
really seemed to enjoy performing Singing Valentines and without
fail, told the recipient "this is from your secret admirer". I was
in a Valentine quartet with Lee every year after I started to
participate in the event.
Lee was not one to miss a meal. While out and about
delivering Singing Valentines, Lee always let us know when it was
lunch time. He wasn’t particular --- Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Hardee’s
or Burger King. I don’t think he was a fan of Subway
though.
