June 2006 - page 2

Kerdus continued...

Skip Thompson - Tom Zuber's friend, stayed around for a half hour singing with the gang after rehearsal

Paul Wilhelmi - another John Hayden recruit from Benton Community High School.

John Erusha - our 8th grader from Regis (plus his dad, Bruce), plans on coming back next week and hopes to bring more Regis friends!

Ray Smith - Sean Smith's dad, asked me afterwards if he should sing tenor or baritone. He said he'll sing whatever is best for the chorus

Chandler and Jackson Koenigs (Greg's two young boys) - Greg's still recruiting them!

Mike Short said it best, "I can't remember a guest night when the total age of our guests doesn't equal my age."

Let's see how many new members we can get out of this great group of guests!

The Merry Month
Of May
By Allan Harms, Chapter President

May has come and gone and we’ve had a good month with the Harmony Hawks. First, a majority of us had an enjoyable time at the annual Cookie Festival in Iowa City and got to know Rick Spencer, our new Society Director of Music and Education. Warming up under Rick’s guidance flew by with no dead spots and was quickly followed by an opportunity to learn Joe Liles’ "America the Beautiful" overlay. That’s an inspiring work that any audience would be thrilled to hear done well. I suggest we add it to our repertoire because it is certainly within the skill of everyone.

After the cookie-eating binge, we got to watch a string of our fellow Eastern Iowa barbershoppers strut their respective stuff including seven guys from our brother chapter, Twenty-First Century Vocals. We had our chance to show off with "Calendar Girl." It’s always fun performing for a receptive audience and it can’t get more receptive than the gang at the Cookie Festival.
