Taking the chapter
meeting on the road

By Larry Aspleaf

Last year at a board meeting the chapter board was brainstorming to find a new way to bring in new members for our chapter. I shared with them an idea when  I was a member of the Springfield, Illinois chapter. They came up with the idea of taking the show and chapter meeting on the road to nearby rural communities. It worked, it brought in new members to our chapter and sold a few more tickets to our annual show.

So why couldn't it work for the Harmony Hawks? The chapter board bought into the idea. So with this idea we are taking a 45 minute show and a chapter meeting to Anamosa, Iowa, a small community about 40 miles northeast of Cedar Rapids. The show and chapter meeting will be on Thursday, July 27.

The idea is to show them how much fun we have by putting on a short performance, hoping to spark an interest. The chapter meeting then gives them an opportunity to sing with the Harmony Hawks and really get them hooked.
