The Sunshine Report
By Mark Potter, Sunshine Chairman

I have some good news on Buzz Brown’s wife, Arletta, she now has an electric scooter. Arletta received it on Monday, July 17, and is already an experienced driver. Buzz told me that she got so good at it that she rode it over to Morgan Creek Park. Arletta came back after awhile and said that it was FUN!!! It has been two years since she has been over to the park. Arletta loves being outdoors and with the new ramp and scooter she’ll be able to do just that. Way to go Arletta! Buzz also told me that she got new leg braces so now she’s able to get around the house with a walker better.

Garth Beatty is doing better, he broke his foot the week of July 3. He had surgery on his foot (I forgot to ask which foot). Hmmm?!?! Garth dropped a ladder on his foot breaking four bones and dislocating three of his toes. Ouch! Garth is now in a walking cast. Hey Garth, we all want to sign your cast. OK? Hang in there.

"Congratulations" goes out to Dave Haase for taking first place in PROBE’s International On-Line Bulletin Contest with the Hawkseye. We all knew you had it in you. We’re going to miss you on the risers on Thursday nights. Good luck in your future endeavors.

Time to review Harmony
Hawk mission Statement
By Allan Harms, Chapter President

"The mission of the Harmony Hawks is to provide an opportunity for men to gain personal satisfaction by singing barbershop music well."

Have you thought about our mission statement recently? If not, please reflect on it right now. Does it fit your viewpoint about your membership in the chorus? If not, do you think we need to revise our mission? Remember that this mission statement was the result of an intense and sincere effort to obtain a consensus view about the reason for the Harmony Hawks Chorus to exist.

Though it has been about ten years since we adopted this mission statement, personally I think it still meets our objectives. It says our membership wants to get personal satisfaction. It says our membership wants to sing barbershop style music and it says we want to sing well. I think our chorus provides the opportunity to do these things.

Personally, I think the mission statement still fits our chorus objectives. You don't have to agree with me, so if you don't, please bring your opinions to a board meeting and we will welcome your input.

Letter from Jerry Nelson

Hi David,

Congratulations on the first place win in the bulletin contest at International! That is ONE BIG WIN!!! The Hawkseye has always had a special place with me after being involved with the Hawks for about 35 years. When we are in Florida (Cape Chorale Chorus now) I always take time to check on-line with what is happening with the Hawks through the Hawkseye!!! You really deserve the honor 'cause it is one great chapter bulletin!. Keep up the good work. I will look forward to more news about the fun you guys are having at International!

I love to show the guys at the Cape what a good chapter can do if it put in the effort!!!
