Hawkseye Editor Says Goodbye To Hawks
By Dave Haase, Editor

In case you haven't picked up on the news from the other writers in this issue this is my last issue of The Hawkseye

Since October 2005 I have been commuting from Davenport to work in Iowa City. Because of high gas prices and other circumstances I felt I needed to find employment closer to home. 20 minutes before I left for Indy I got a call from HON Industries in Muscatine, Iowa. They offered me a job working 2nd shift in their main warehouse driving a clamp truck. The pay and benefits were great so I couldn't pass it up. Another plus, my commute was cut in half.

The only downside to the job is having to give up my barbershop hobby for at least a year until I can get on a different shift. Who knows, maybe I can start a HON quartet or chorus.

In my 25 years of barbershop I have made many new friends that have stuck by me through the good times and the bad. I must thank the Harmony Hawks for being there for me. The last two years have been trying times for our family with mom in the nursing home with Alzheimer's and dad on oxygen 24/7 with his emphysema. Lately, mom has started to go downhill so keep her in your prayers.

So it is with a sad heart I must say "Goodbye" to the Harmony Hawks. I'm sure I'll see you all at district conventions or at some other barbershop function where we all can get together and sing a song. Thanks for all the memories.

Richard Anderson Next Hawkseye Editor
By Dave Haase

Due to a new job in Muscatine, Iowa, for Hawkseye Editor Dave Haase, Richard Anderson (pictured on the left) has stepped up to the plate and volunteered to takeover as editor. Richard has been with the Harmony Hawks since 2004. Once hearing of the opening, Richard jumped at the chance to take over this role and in his own words, "I’ll give it my best shot."

Richard has been employed with McLeod USA where he works as a Service Operations Center Technician in Hiawatha, Iowa. Richard feels that his computer and Internet troubleshooting experience will provide a positive asset to the chorus.

Richard has previous singing experience with a cappella choirs and a barbershop chorus during his high school years in California. Richard is married to wife, Leslie and has two children and one grandson. Let’s welcome Richard and support him with this task. "We all wish Dave good luck with his future endeavors. I sure we will be seeing him around from time to time," stated Anderson.
