Harmony Hawks board decides not to
attend CSD Fall
Convention by Allan Harms, Chapter
President
The board decided at the meeting on
9/7/06 that too few members had committed to going to contest in
Wichita as a chorus and so it was decided that the chorus would no
longer continue with plans to compete this year. This action was
taken after a serious and thorough discussion and was announced to
those members who were at the meeting. Naturally, those who planned
to compete as a part of the chorus will be disappointed.
Just because the chorus will not
compete as a unit doesn't mean that individuals cannot attend the
contest/convention and enjoy the activities as spectators. Contact
Buzz if you wish to keep your housing request in the hopper. Or you
can use the order forms for registrations and housing which were
available at rehearsal the last two weeks and are published in the
Serenade and deal directly with the District Convention
team.
We will now shift our focus toward
the Gospel Concert preparation and participation in the Eastern Iowa
Christmas Concert on 12/9/06. In addition, we will soon be
distributing music for next spring's show and John Hayden promises
that we will have learning recordings by November 1. So be sure to
attend so you keep up with our progress in these
directions

COME ON BACK--AND
BRING GUESTS!!!
Bob Kerdus -VP of
Chapter Development
Now that the
decision has been made for the chorus not to compete in Wichita,
it’s time for everyone who was not going to go to come back and
sing! Our focus will now be on the Gospel Concert on November
4th, plus our involvement in the eastern Iowa Christmas
concert on December 9th. Plus, we will be getting going
on Spring Show music too.
Even though we
don’t have an "official" guest night until November 17th,
this would be a great time to get new guys interested in the
chorus-----so let’s make every rehearsal up until that guest night
an "unofficial" guest night. Let’s share our wonderful hobby with
other guys that love to sing!!Thanks and we’ll see
everyone Thursday
night!!
Pears, Pears, Pears
by Allan
Harms
On two successive Thursdays, Dave Lasley brought in
buckets of pears that he’d raised and picked and couldn’t eat, can,
freeze, pickle, candy, make into pie, or whatever else one can do
with them. For those clever enough to take some home, they found
that these pears, though sometimes not looking the most pear-shaped,
tasted absolutely delicious. There wasn’t much talk on the second
evening that pears arrived, since those who knew how good they were
wanted to be sure to get some more. Thanks for sharing Dave. We’ll
be looking for some more next September. What’s the recipe for
pear pie?
