CSD Fall Convention continued.....

This convention celebrated the 60th anniversary of the district and there were special collectors pins for all attendees and a special history display. It was truly a great convention that was well attended and quoting our own Read Leamon "It was the best CSD convention I have ever attended. The singing was the fantastic!"

I felt bad that the Harmony Hawks were unable to attend and greatly missed spending time with all my fellow HH’s Barbershoppers! Let’s all start planning now to attend and compete at the 2007 Fall CSD Convention in Kansas City October 19-21, 2007!

The Sunshine Report
By Mark Potter,  Sunshine Chairman

Buzz Brown’s wife Arletta, Update…Spirits are still high for Arletta for all she is going thru. She has a power chair now that she uses all her waking hours to get around the house with. Buzz built a ramp out front for her before the harsher weather blew in. During the warmer weather she could go down the ramp and enjoy the outdoors which she loves. She can still fold some clothes but Buzz has been doing all the other house cleaning and cooking for a while. Arletta goes to the swimming pool (3) three times a week, where she can walk on her own in the water. Her legs have been retaining water now so they have been trying to keep her legs elevated. I think I can say for all…If you need some help…You give us a call…

Garth Beatty is coming around. It’s good to see him back on the risers. He said his foot is healing slowly, but it still giving some trouble. He’s working hard on his crops. Just wish his foot would follow suit…Hang in there Garth !!!

For myself(Mark Potter) I have being on this Veggie type of diet with also making a lot of juices for 3or 4 months now. (time flies when you’re having fun) I have lost 60 pounds now. The most I have lost at any one time. Its fun going to your other closet.(the one with, as I call it skinny clothes in it). And trying them on and saying WOW they fit !!!

I have a request…If at any time any of you hear about a Hawk member or wife or close family getting sick PLEASE contact me by phone (319-446-7233) or by e-mail (mfptap@earthlink.net) As Sunshine chairman I send out Get Well cards or Flowers and call them to see how they are doing or need anything…Thank-you

Welcome fellow barbeshoppers to my latest edition of The Hawkseye. It's funny how life can sometimes throw you curves and where the decision you make can be the right one. Curiously enough, I often reflect that same thought of when I decided to get back into singing again with the Harmony Hawks two years ago. My wife, Leslie had actually brought it up to me while I was spending my quality time "glued" to the television. It's hard to believe it has been more than thirty years when I performed in my high school chorus in southern California. I do have vivid memories of performing amongst the public and remember singing as a combined chorus at Anaheim Stadium where we delivered the national anthem. Over the next several months I may approach one of you asking for some history of your barbershop experiences so that I may publish it in the next newsletter. I would deeply appreciate any information you can provide. Thanks to all and let’s keep those chords ringing.
