Holiday Show
Update II
by
John Donehower - Music Men Chorus, Director,
East Central,
Coordinator
(Since I don't know yet who all will be performing on
the Holiday Harmony Shows, I'm sending this out to everyone on the
initial distribution.) Happy Holidays! (Too soon?) Just a few
notes to everyone regarding the Holiday Harmony Shows and the
**Supersized** East Central Chorus Project: 1) Reference music and
learning tapes has been distributed to a representative of each area
chorus. If your chorus is planning on participating, lets get on the
stick, distribute the learning cd and music and get that music
learned! If you are planning on participating as an individual, get
on the stick yourself. Reach out to any of the following men who
have the reference material in their possession:
Davenport: Dean Sellers
Iowa City: Chad
Knipfer
Cedar Rapids: Dean Beckman & John
Hayden
Muscatine: Dan Warschauer
Waterloo: Dan
Brown
Elkader: Jon DeNeui
2) Musical Notes: For everyone's convenience, we will
be singing the music as performed on the learning tracks. No
"suggested keychanges" in WHITE CHRISTMAS, "CHRISTMAS SONG" or
"JINGLE BELL ROCK".
3) Quartets are beginning to sign up! We have three
quartet that have already chosen their song for the shows.
Songs that are now spoken for include:
"I Want A Hippopotomus for
Christmas"
"Mele Kalikimaka" (Hawaian Christmas tune)
"You
Ain't Getting Diddly Squat"
Does your quartet want to sing on the
shows? Then pick a song and let me know. First come, first
served!
4) Which choruses have signed up? We have three
definite:
Dubuque, Davenport, Iowa City.
We have two
probable: Muscatine and Cedar Rapids (John Hayden doubtful). Others
have either passed or we have not heard from either way.
5) Dubuque is putting the final touches on the FREE
TRIAL OFFER guest program that we are going to run in conjunction
with the Holiday Shows. We are going to invite guests to practice
with us for about a month and then perform on the shows (with no
obligation or pressure to join up.) We will be doing a mailer to our
big list, letters to possible guests and relying on member contact
to get the word out. When our plan and materials are complete, we
will share what we have with each of you. (Wouldn't it be great if
each chorus brought 10-20 guests along for the show? Can you imagine
how cool it would be if even half of them joined up?!?!?!?!)
